YOUNG RAM of the YEAR - Update

The young ram of the year competition has started in Dubbo with an excellent lineup of young rams. The ram Kelso L220 got of to a flying start by winning his class and then going on to be Junior Champion, thus gaining maximum points. The ram Wellingrove 8/09 by being second to him in his class and then going on to be Reserve Junior Champion is close behind. In third place is Bauer 12/09 with Bindaree 237/09 and two Normanhurst rams 23/09 and 48/09 in equal fourth.

The second leg of this competition at the Australian Sheep and Wool Show at Bendigo has seen some interesting results with some new rams entering the running. With the ram Deepdene 66/09 winning his class and going on to take out the Junior Championship and gaining 9 points to see him in second place over all. The leading ram Kelso L220/09 received 5 points for his third place in the young woolly class. It is interesting that the two rams in first and second in this class Retallack 321/09 and Coolawang 243/09 were not shown at Dubbo.

So as we move to Adelaide we have the ram Kelso L220/09 leading on 15 points but this ram will not be shown in Adelaide. With this in mind the competition is still very open. Of the rams entered for Adelaide with an opportunity to catch the Kelso ram we have the Deepdene 66/09 with 9 points then Wellingrove 8/09 and Jackson 29/09 on 7 and with three rams Normanhurst 8/09 and 175/09 and Coolawang 243/09 on 6 points.
